Government A group of people who make decisions for a city/state/country.
Structure how something is put together or organized.
Convention meeting.
Represent to act in someone else's place.[ex the government represents the citizens.

Election the process of choosing someone to hold public office by voting.
Law of the Land Refers to a set of rules that exists in a certain place

CONSTITUTION sets rules for how the American Government works & was written to make sure everyone is treated fairly
Founders People who wrote the Constitution were called this.

UNITED STATES a democracy. This means people choose their leaders in the government.
How does the Government get its power? from the people, not from a king or queen.
Where was the Constitution written? INDEPENDENCE HALL IN PHILADELPHIA
George Washington Became the first president after the Constitution was finished.
WE THE PEOPLE means the government gets its power from all the people.
BILL OF RIGHTS lists the rights and freedoms that all people should have.
TWO IMPORTANT AMERICAN FREEDOMS freedom of speech and freedom of religion
PRESIDENT elected by the people, not by a king or queen
Amendment When the Constitution is changed
The Founders made sure the government would be based on important ideas, like fairness, and equal rights for everyone.
