QuestionAnswer
Burden (noun) a difficult or worrying responsibility or duty, a heavy hardship that weighs on the bearer Ex: The BURDEN of babysitting his younger siblings kept him awake at night.
Carnage (noun) widespread destruction, slaughter, or massacre Ex: The CARNAGE left behind from the swarm of beetles made the crops useless.
Concept (noun) a specific thought or notion Ex: Algebra can be a difficult CONCEPT I struggle with. The letter and numbers are confusing.
Despite (preposition) regardless of something, notwithstanding (similar meaning to "even though") Ex: DESPITE asking for permission, Jo felt uncomfortable taking the last bag of chips for lunch.
Ecstatic (adjective) showing or feeling great pleasure or delight (as in the state of ecstasy) Ex: Martin was ECSTATIC when he received an A on a difficult project
Grief (noun) great sadness or sorrow Ex: We all felt the GRIEF of when we had to say goodbye to our loved ones.
Horde (noun) a large group of people (a mob or crowd) Ex: We had to move quickly as the HORDE of angry protesters came running toward us.
Immobilize (verb) to stop in place, or disable movement Ex: The doctors in the ER had to IMMOBILIZE my broken arm with a cast and sling
Inflict (verb) to cause damage, harm, or unpleasant, to somebody or something Ex: Sometimes I INFLICT pain on my little brother by pinching his skin.
Luminous (adjective) bright or shining , having a glowing effect (as if to give off light) Ex: Putting a new light bulb in my lamp made all of the shiny objects in my room LUMINOUS.
Optimistic (adjective) trending to take a hopeful Ex: Landon was OPTIMISTIC that he would male the baseball team after the hard work he put in prior to his tryout.
Precise (adjective) exact or specifically detailed Ex: I save the PRECISE amount of money needed for my new PS5.
Rigid (adjective) stiff, firm, not flexible Ex: The hotel beds were very RIGID so no one got a good night's sleep on vacation.
Solitude (noun) the state of being or living alone Ex: Sometimes Jonas preferred the SOLITUDE of being alone in the room on weekends.
Vague (noun) unclear, not specific. Unclearly felt, understood, or recalled Ex: Coco lost points on her essay because the example she provided was to vague to prove her point.
