QuestionAnswer
Diversity Refers to differences and experiences that occur in a group where one person or experiences different. Diversity is often depicted as a puzzle where each puzzle piece is a unique size and shape but together the pieces make up a whole group
Justice It means that all people those with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ are treated fairly and have the same opportunities in life
Inclusion Many see inclusion as a place an individual can be seen in the same place as others but not being included. Included and equitable is analogous to separate but equal
Multicultural education Refers to an educational construct that addresses cultural diversity, Equity in schools, justice, and democracy. It incorporates the different cultural groups to which individuals belong
Equity Refers to impartiality and justice. Equity does not mean equal. It doesn't mean that everyone gets the same thing, it means that everyone gets what he or she needs. In education, Equity is not solely something that you do, but it is who you are
Instructional issues The challenge of ensuring justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in instruction is not easily resolved.
Disciplinary issues One of the most difficult tasks of teaching is socializing students through classroom discipline.
Class wide peer tutoring This allows teachers to provide culturally sensitive instructions to all members of a diverse group at once.
Subcultures These share the common characteristics of the larger culture. Subcultures don't need to be small and may fact to be the majority group.
Exceptionality group A group sharing a set of specific abilities or disabilities that are especially valued or that require special accommodation.
Curriculum based measurement Entails direct and frequent samples of performance from the curriculum in which students are being instructed.
Sheltered English approach Students receive instruction in English for most of the school day from the beginning of their schooling.
