SUBCUTANEOUS under the skin
HYSTERECTOMY surgical removal of the uterus
HUMERUS the long bone of the upper are (from shoulder to elbow)
CENTESIS surgical puncture
CALLUS a term referring to bone formed at the end of a fracture
PHOBOPHOBIA fear of phobias
NEPHROLOGY branch of medicine concerned with the kidneys
BLEPHARTIS inflammation of the eyelid
PLEURISY inflimmation of the pleura (membrane that lines each of the thorax)
HYSTERECTOMY surgival removal of the uterus
MYOPIA a condition in which the visual images come to a focus in front of the retina of the eye resulting in defective distant vision
MENISCUS a crescent-shapped body; a concave-convex lens
RETINA the sensory membrane that lines the eye and recieves images
CORNEA the transparent part of the coat of the eyeball that covers the iris and pupil and admits light
CAUDEL relating to or situated near the tail (tailbone)
OPHTHALMOLOGY the branch of medical science dealing with the structure, functions, and disease of the eye
EMBOLUS an abnormal particle circulating in the blood
ENCEPHALITIS inflammation of the brain
SCHIZOPHRENIA a psychotic disorder charecterized by loss of contact with the environment
MALAISE an indefinite feeling of debility or lack of health
PARESTHESIA sensation of tingling or creeping of the skin
CIRRHOSIS widespread liver malfunction
DIARRHEA flow through; intestinal evacuations
DIAPHRAGM the body partition of muscle and tissue
ADDUCTION to draw (as a limb) toward or past the median axis of the body
BILIRUBIN breakdown of old and damaged red blood cells. The liver helps to eliminate bilirubin as waste.
MENISCUS a crescent or crescent-shaped body
HEMATOCRIT the ratio of the volume of blood as determined by separation of red blood cells from the plasma
ANEURYSM or ANEURISM an abnormal blood-filled bulge of a blood vessel
ANKYLOSIS stiffness or fixation of joint by disease or surgery
PITUITARY an endocrine gland
CHOLECYST refers to the gallbladder
PERIODONTITIS pyorrhea
MEDULLA OBLONGATA pertains to the brain
