Multicultural Education An educational construct that addresses cultural diversity, equity in schools, justice, and democracy.
Justice Broadening students' perspectives by exposing them to different opinions with respect to real-world issues.
Subcultures A group within a larger society that shares its own distinct values, beliefs, behaviors, norms, and sometimes language that differ from the dominant culture
Exceptionality Group A category of individuals who share similar characteristics related to a specific disability or exceptional ability that affects learning, behavior, or development and may require specialized services or supports.
Curriculum-based Measurement (CBM) A method of assessing a student’s academic progress by using brief, frequent, standardized assessments that are directly aligned with the curriculum to monitor learning and guide instruction
Classwide Peer Tutoring (CWPT) An instructional strategy in which all students in a class are paired to take turns tutoring and being tutored, using structured, teacher-guided activities to improve academic and social skills
Sheltered-English Approach Students receive instruction in English for most of the school day from the beginning of their schooling.
Ethnic Group A group of people who share a common cultural background, such as traditions, language, history, ancestry, or customs.
Hearing Impaired A condition in which a person has partial or total loss of hearing that affects their ability to hear sounds and communicate
Individualization The practice of adapting instruction, services, or supports to meet the unique needs, strengths, and abilities of an individual
