TermDefinition
Multicultural Education An approach to teaching that values and includes diverse cultures, perspectives, and experiences, aiming to promote equity, respect, and inclusion in schools.
Justice Broadening students perspectives and exposing them to different opinions on real world issues.
Exceptionality group A category used in education to describe students who share a specific type of exceptional need or ability, such as a disability or giftedness.
Ethnic group A group of people who share a common cultural background, such as language, traditions, ancestry, or history.
Curriculum-based measurement (CBM) A method of assessing students’ academic progress using brief, frequent tests that are directly tied to the curriculum.
Classwide peer tutoring (CWPT) An instructional strategy where students work in pairs or small groups to tutor each other, with structured roles and activities to improve learning for the whole class.
Sheltered-English approach A teaching method that helps English language learners understand content by using simplified English, visual aids, and clear instruction while gradually building their language skills.
Underidentified A term used in education to describe students who have a disability, exceptional ability, or special need but have not been officially recognized or diagnosed, so they do not receive appropriate support or services.
Hearing Impared A term describing individuals who have partial or total loss of hearing, which may affect communication and learning.
Subcultures Groups within a larger society that have their own distinct beliefs, values, behaviors, or interests, often differing from the mainstream culture.
