Executive branch the part of government responsible for implementing, enforcing, and carrying out laws passed by the legislature
President (POTUS) the elected leader of our republic. As the highest executive official, they preside over meetings, manage policies, and often act as the head of state and government. They are elected indirectly by the voters through the Electoral College
Vice President (VPOTUS) the second-highest officer in the executive branch ranking immediately below the president. Their primary role is to act as a deputy, support the president, and take over or assume duties if the president dies, resigns, or is unable to serve
Article II establishes the Executive Branch, which is responsible for implementing and enforcing federal laws. It set parameters for Executive Term and Reqs/The Electoral College (Sec 1), Presidential powers (Sections 2 & 3), and Impeachment (Section 4)
Appoint officially choose or designate someone for a job, position, or responsibility, or to set or fix a time, place, or decision
Cabinet group of senior advisors or ministers in a government responsible for policy and administration, such as the U.S. President's cabinet
Executive orders directive signed by the U.S. President that manages federal government operations and has the force of law without requiring Congressional approval
Administrative agencies government body (like a department, commission, or board) created to implement and enforce specific laws and regulations passed by a legislature, handling complex issues that need specialized knowledge
Bureaucracy a system of administration in large organizations in government, characterized by a strict, hierarchical structure, specialized roles, and rigid, standardized procedures
Function of administrative agency Admin agencies serve to advise the leaders of the executive branch, enforce regulations that follow the laws created as a guide, and create and regulations to help carry out their job of enforcing the laws
Executive authorities at state level States have executives called governors and each state has a cabinet of executives as well as agencies below them that work with the governor as part of the executive branch
Executive authorities at local level Counties have executives or chief commissioners, while cities have positions like mayors. BOTH levels (city/county) have executive agencies that work with the lead executive to carry out their function
