| Term | Definition |

| Multicultural education | Aims to change educational institutions and curricula so they will provide equal educational opportunities to students regardless of their gender, social class, ethnicity, race, disability, or other cultural identity. |
| Subcultures | A culture that is associated with or part of a larger culture; a culture that is not the entire culture of a nation or other entity. Sometimes called "microculture," but a subculture is not necessarily small or a minority of a larger culture. |
| Exceptionality group | People who share a collection of specific abilities or disabilities |
| Curriculum-based measurement (CBM) | A formative evaluation method designed to evaluate performance in the curriculum to which students are exposed; usually involves giving students a small sample of items from the curriculum in use in their schools |
| Classwide peer tutoring (CWPT) | An instructional procedure in which all students in the class are involved in tutoring and being tutored by classmates on specific skills as directed by their teacher. |
| Sheltered-English approach | A method in which language-minority students are taught all their subjects in English at a level that is modified constantly according to individuals' needs. |
| Justice | all people (those with disabilities, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ) are treated fairly and have the same opportunities in life. |
| Equity | everyone gets what they need, not that everyone gets the same thing. |
| Diversity | differences and experiences that occur in a group where one person or experience is different. |
| Inclusion | being part of a group or collection. |
