Multicultural Competence
| Term | Definition |

| Multicultural Education | Cultural diversity, equity in schools, justice, and democracy. It ensures that the different cultural groups belong in the school environment and curriculum. |
| Subcultures | Share common characteristics of the larger culture. |
| Exceptionality Group | Sharing a set of specific abilities or disabilities that are valued or require special accommodations within a given subculture. |
| Curriculum-based measurement | Samples of performance for curriculum in which students are being instructed and more useful for teachers. |
| Sheltered-English Approach | Students receive instruction in English for most of the school day from the beginning of their schooling. |
| Class wide Peer Tutoring | A teaching strategy that is useful for children who are not proficient to learn English more efficiently. |
| Implementing Effective Reading Instruction | Reading instruction should be based on the scientific evidence such as the Science of reading which is needed for education. |
