Where and why did General Cornwallis move his army to? -strong British forces in the south -moved his army to Yorktown, Virginia -was waiting for British navy help

What did Washington do when he heard about fighting in the south? -Sent Lafayette and Anthony Wayne to Virginia to stop Cornwallis -They had Cornwallis pinned down to a pennisula called Yorktown
What happened after Washington got news that French ships were heading to Chesapeake Bay? -Changed his plan from fighting in New York to heading South to Yorktown -Kept his plan very secret -British General in New York didn't know he was gone until it was too late
What happened in the Battle of Yorktown -French Navy ships blocked off British ships -British ran low on supply and many soldiers were sick -Cornwallis was forced to surrender
Why was the Battle of Yorktown important? -ended most of the fighting in the revolutionary war -Britain realized it was to expensive to continue -led to the treaty of paris
