Adjuvant Surgery Aims To remove any remaining cancer cells
Chemotherapy Aims Damages DNA/ Cell Division causing cancer cells to die.
Radiotherapy High radiation used to destroy cancer cells dividing.
Radiotherapy Aims Shrinks tumour and kills cancer cells. Can be curative or pallative
Hormone therapy Treatments which reduces/ blocks hormones
Neoadjuvant surgery Treatment before surgery
Neoadjuvant surgery aims Shrink tumor making it easier to remove,
radical surgery Surgery that removes surrounding tissues, lymph nodes, or other nearby structures to try to ensure that all disease (such as cancer) is completely removed.
Radical surgery aims Removes entire tumour and improve survival rates.
biological surgery targets specific cancer cells.
Biological surgery aims Repair or replace damaged tissue, Promote healing and regeneration.
Pallative treatment Treatment that relieves symptoms and improves quality of life for patients with serious or terminal illnesses, rather than trying to cure the disease.
Pallative treatment aims Relieve pain and other distressing symptoms – Improve quality of life.
Rehab is the process of helping a person regain skills, strength, and independence after illness, injury, or surgery.
Rehab aims Restore physical function, improve QO.
