QuestionAnswer
Purpose of conclusions? State what was factually learned based on findings.
Key rule for conclusions? No conclusion without supporting findings.
How should conclusions be written? Concise, categorical, and free of qualifiers.
What must conclusions answer? The study’s specific questions or objectives.
What should conclusions avoid? Numerals and implied/indirect effects.
What must conclusions include? Relevant research implications.
Purpose of recommendations? Solve or help solve problems found in the study.
What should recommendations avoid? Suggestions unrelated to findings.
What should recommendations aim for? Ideal but feasible and practical solutions.
To whom should recommendations be addressed? Those able to implement them.
Required recommendation? Further research to verify or expand findings.
Define an abstract. A short, self-contained summary of the entire research paper.
Length of an abstract? 6–7 sentences or 150–250 words.
Five parts of an abstract? Reason, problem, methodology, results, implications.
Purpose of an abstract? Present thesis, key points, and significance in one paragraph.
