holocaust The mass killing of six million jews and millions of others by Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany.
war crime an action during war that violates international laws or ethical principles
blitzrieg a fast and intense military attack used by Germany meaning "Lightning War"
isolationism a policy of staying out of other countries' problems or war
annex to take control of another territory, often by force, and make it a part of your country
communism a system where the government controls the economy and aims for equality by sharing resources
propaganda information spread to influence peoples opinions, often misleading
appeasement giving in to demands to avoid conflict
shares pieces of ownership of a company that people can buy and sell
stock market a system where people buy and sell shares in companies, often reflecting the economy's health
totalitarian a government that controls all aspects of life
reparartions payments made to make up for damage or wrongful acts
depression a severe and long lasting damage in the economy
inflation a rise in prices that makes money lose it's value
treaty of veresailles the agreement that ended WWI, blamed Germany
fascism a government system lead by a dictator, focusing on nationalism and suppressing opposition.
rationing limiting the amount of goods of people can buy to save resources for the war effort
ghetto a section of a city where minority groups forcibly confined such as jews and Nazi control
concentration camp a place where people are held without consent often harsh and deadly conditions
genocide the intentional killing of a large group of people especially those of a specific ethnic or cultural group.
