Personification When the author gives not alive objects human traits
Simile A comparison using like or as
Metaphor A comparison using WITHOUT like or as
Tone the general character or attitude of a place, piece of writing, situation, etc.
Mood The overall emotion created; the emotional atmosphere
Conflict The problem or struggle that a character is facing
Symbolism When the author gives a object or thing a deeper meaning/idea to represent something
Turning point When a character has a VERY BIG CHANGE in the story
Foreshadowing When the author gives clues/hints for something big that's going to happen
External Conflict When conflict comes from outside E: when you and your friend are arguing
Internal Conflict When conflict goes inside your head like a mental problem E: your embarrassed
Idiom When a phrase or sentence doesn't mean what it's suppose to mean E: its raining cats and dogs R: Its raining Heavily
Literal Meaning When a phase, word, etc mean EXACTLY what it means
