argument and claim

| argument | When the author wants to convince you of their position |
| Claim | The author main point |
| Evidence | What the author uses to support their claim |
| Counterclaim | The opposite viewpoint of the authors claim |
| Rebuttal | When the author responds directly to the counterclaim |
| Credibility | The author is able to be believed and trusted. |
| Ethos | Emphasizes the speakers credibility and authority. Authority conveys trustworthiness, expertise shared values, etc. |
| pathos | Appeals to the audience's emotions. Pathos is used to influence the audience to a desired belief or action. |
| Logos | Appeals to the audiences logic or reason. Logos use any form of proof to influence an audience. |
