| Claim | The author's main point |
| Rebuttal | When the author respondonds directly to the counterclaim |
| Counterclaim | The opposite viewpoint of the authors's claim |
| Evidence | What the author uses to support their claim |
| Credibility | The author is able to be believed and trusted |
| Ethos | Emphasizes the speakers' credibility and authority, conveys trustworthyness expertise, values |
| Pathos | Appeals to the audience's emotions, used to influence an audience to believe or do something |
| Logos | Appeals to the audience's logic or reason, uses proof to influence the audience |
