argument and claim

TermDefinition
Argument When the author wants to convince you of their position. They are either for or against a certain issue or topic.
Claim The author's main point, the author belives to be true.
Ethos emphasizes the speaker's authonty and credibility, the author believes to be true.
Pathos Appeals to the audience emotions, it is used to influence an audience to believe or do something.
Logos Appeals to the audience's logic or reason, it uses proof to influence an audience.
Relevant evidence What the author uses to support their claim
Counterclaim The opposing viewpoint of the author's claim
Rebuttal When the author responds directly to the counterclaim.
Credible The author is able to be believed and trusted.
