Argument and claim

QuestionAnswer
Argument When the author wants to convince you of their position.
Claim The author's main point
Evidence What the author uses to support the claim
Counterclaim The opposite viewpoint of the author's claim
Rebuttal When the author responds directly to the counterclaim
Credibility The author is able to be believed and trusted
Ethos emphasizes the speaker's credibility and authority. Authority conveys trust worthiness, expertise, shared value, etc
Pathos Appeals to the audience emotions. Pathos is used to influence the audience to a desired belief or actions.
Logos Appeals to the audience logic or reason. Logos uses and form of proof to influence the audience
