Argument

TermDefinition
Claim The author’s main point.
Counterclaim The opposite viewpoint of the author’s claim.
Rebuttal When the author responds directly to the counterclaim.
Credible The author is able to be believed and trusted.
Relevant Evidence What the author uses to support their claim.
Argument When the author wants to convince you of their position.
Ethos Emphasizes the speaker's credibility and authority. It conveys trust, worthiness, expertise, values,etc.
Pathos Appeals to the audience's emotions. It is used to influence an audience to believe or do.
Logos Appeals to the audience's logic or reason. Uses proof to influence an audience.
