| Ciff | A high, steep rock-face. |
| Archipelago | A group of islands. |
| Mountain | An area of rugged land that generally rises higher than 2,000 ft. |
| Valley | An area of low land between hills or mountains. |
| Canyon | A deep, narrow valley with steep walls. |
| Plateau | A large, flat, elevated area of land. |
| Island | An area of land surrounded entirely by water. |
| Strait | A narrow body of water connecting two larger bodies of water. |
| Delta | An area where a river deposits soil into the ocean. |
| Bay | Part of a large body of water that extends into land but is smaller than a gulf. |
| Oasis | An area in the desert with a water source |
| Desert | An extremely dry area with little water and few plants. |
| Plain | A nearly flat area. |
| Wetland | An area of land covered by shallow water. Includes swamps, bogs, and marshes. |
| Volcano | An opening of the Earth's crust where lava, ash, and gasses erupt. |
| Lake | An inland body of water. Most often freshwater |
| River | A natural flow of water that runs through the land. |
| Isthmus | A narrow piece of land connecting two larger land areas. |
| Glacier | A large area of slow-moving ice. |
| Peninsula | An area of land that sticks out into a lake or ocean. Surrounded by water on 3 sides. |
| Dune | A hill of sand shaped by wind |
| Gulf | A large part of the ocean that extends into land. |
