Argument and Claim

TermDefinition
Argument When the author wants to convince you of their position.
Claim The author's main point.
Evidence what the author uses to support their claim.
Counterclaim The opposite viewpoint of the author's claim.
Rebuttal When the author responds directly to the counterclaim.
Credible The author is able to be believed and trusted.
Ethos Emphasizes the speaker's credibility and authority.
Logos Appeals to the audience's logic or reason.
Pathos Appeals to the audience's emotion.
