Argument and Claim

TermDefinition
Argument When the author wants to convince you of their position.
claim The authors main point
Evidence what author uses to support their claim
Counterclaim The opposite viewpoint of the authors claim.
Rebuttal When the author responds directly to the counterclaim
Credibility When the author is believable and can be trusted.
Ethos Emphasizes the speakers credibility and authority.
Pathos Appeals to the audiences emotions .
Logos Appeals to readers logic or reason.
