The vestibular contains coarse hairs that act as a first line of defense against infection. These hairs defend the respiratory tract by filtering the air inhaled through the nose.
The olfactory s located on the roof of the nasal cavity. Your senses of smell and taste are connected to this area.
The respiratory region is in charge of warming and humidifying the air that travels through it. Blood vessels line the mucous membranes of the respiratory region, and the air passing through this region is moistened to around 80 percent humidity.
nasopharynx the first section of the pharynx, is the part through which air passes.
oropharynx the second section of the pharynx, is located behind the oral cavity. Air, food, and liquids pass through this cavity.
laryngopharynx Air, food, and liquids pass through the laryngopharynx. From the laryngopharynx, air continues to the trachea, and food or liquid that is swallowed enters the esophagus.
