Why is a quipu? Knotted strings that were used to record information such as records of goods traded and payments of tribute (like taxes)
Why were roads so important to the Inca? Roads helped people send messages across the empire and allowed movement across the empire easier for armies and merchant traders
How did the geography of South America impact the Inca empires? The Inca people used terraced farming because they lived in the Andes Mountains; developed a method of building roads that crossed mountains, valleys, swamps, and desert to connect their communities; and built bridges to cross their waterways
What animal played a central role in the life of the Inca? Why? Llamas were used for travel and transporting goods
