hot spot An area where molten rock from within the mantle rises close to earth's surface
landslide The sudden movement of rocks and soil down a slope
minerals A solid nonliving, material of earth's crust with a distinct composition
molten rock Very hot melted rock found in earth's mantle
tectonic plates pieces of earth's crust that fit together like a puzzle
volcano An opening in earth's surface where melted rock or gases are forced out.
earthquake A sudden shacking of Earth's crust
focus The point where an earthquake starts
epicenter The point on Earth's surface directly above the focus of an earthquake
magnitude The amount of energy released by an earthquake
tsunami A huge wave caused by an earthquake underneath the ocean
