| tachycardia | heart rate that is too fast |
| bradycardia | heart rate that is too slow |
| radial artery | artery in the wrist used to check pulse |
| carotid artery | artery in the neck used to check pulse |
| respiratory rate | how fast someone breathes |
| breaths per minute | number of breaths in one minute |
| inspiration | breathing in |
| Expiration | breathing out air from the lungs |
| Blood Oxygen Saturation / Pulse Ox | how much oxygen is in the blood |
| Pulse Oximeter | a small device that measures oxygen level and pulse |
| Oxygen | a gas the body needs to make energy |
| Carbon Dioxide | a waste gas the body breathes out |
| Hemoglobin | a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen |
| Erythrocytes | red blood cells |
| Blood Pressure | the force of blood pushing against artery walls |
| Sphygmomanometer | a tool used to measure blood pressure |
| Systole / Systolic | when the heart contracts and pumps blood |
| Diastole / Diastolic | when the heart relaxes between beats |

| Korotkoff Sounds | sounds heard when taking blood pressure |
| Brachial Artery | the artery in the upper arm |
| Hypertension | high blood pressure |
