How did the emancipation proclamation benefit the Union's cuase? Allowed free ensalved people to fight for the union/increase their armed forces
What role did formerly ensalved people play in the civil war? they helped fight for the union
Which battle was a turning point of the civil war and why? Gettysburg , the confederacy lost a 1/3 of their army
What was Lincoln's Ten Percent Plan? Pardon most southerners and required on 10% of voters swear allegiance to the US, and agree to emancipation
What is Juneteenth? commemorates the effective end of slavery in the U.S., marking the day in 1865 the troops enforced the Emancipation Proclamation, finally freeing over 250,000 enslaved African Americans in the state, two years after the proclamation was signed
How did the goals of the "radical" repubilcans differ frmo the goals of the "Redeemer" Democrats? The republicans wanted to create a more equal society while democrats wanted to regain politcal power and enforce white supremacy.
What were good experiences for African Americans during reconstruction? The right to vote, hundreds of African Americans were elected.
What were bad experiences for African Americans during reconstruction? laws were passed to limit freedoms of African Americans, hate groups were formed (the KKK) that terrorized and killed African Americans to keep them from voting.
The 13th Amendment made slavery illegal ( against the law)
The 15th Amendment Gave African American Men the right to vote
