TermDefinition
Prereferral A preventive, team-based process in schools to provide targeted academic or behavioral support to struggling students with general education.
Multidisciplinary team A group of professionals from different specialities who work together to provide comprehensive care and make joint decisions for a patient.
Response to Intervention (RTI) Refers to a students change (or lack of) in academic performance or behavior result of instruction.
Curriculum-Based Measurement Involves students response to usual instruction materials. Details frequent samples of a students performance from the curriculum.
Early Intervening Services Support for babies and toddlers with developmental disabilities.
Individualized-education program A legally blinding plan with goals and objectives for kids with disabilities.
Individualized family service plan (IFSP) A written, family specific plan for infants and toddlers with disabilities focusing on meeting their unique needs.
Transition Plans A strategic plan with goals and timelines, focusing on moving from one state to another.
Supported employment Helps individuals with severe long term disabilities find and keep a job.
Least Restricted Environment (LRE) States that children with disabilities receive education with non-disabled peers to the maximum extent appropriate for their needs.
