percent proportion A method of solving percent problems with 2 equal fractions with the percent number over 100 and IS over OF for the 2nd fraction
percent equation A method of solving percent problems that describes the relationship between part, whole, and percent
sales tax Additional money added onto items/services bought that goes to the government
discount The amount of money an item is reduced. It is subtracted from the total.
tip Additional money paid for services given; usually waitress or waiters.
gratuity Another word for tip. Additional money paid for a service.
percent of change This is a fraction that compares the change in quantity from the new amount to the original amount
percent increase A positive percent of change; the price goes up
percent decrease A negative percent of change; the price goes down
simple interest Extra money paid to a bank to be able to borrow money
principal The amount of money borrowed from a bank
