Chapter 1 - A & P Lecture

Organization all living things are arranged in a specific, orderly, and hierarchical manner, rather than being a random collection of parts
Metabolism the ability to use energy to perform vital functions; all chemical reactions of the body
Responsiveness ability to sense changes in the interior & exterior environment and adjust; cell to cell communication is necessary
Development changes in an organism over time Ex: differentiation
Differeniation change form general to specific
Growth increase in size and/or number of cells
Reproduction formation of new cells or new organisms for growth and development; allows organisms to pass on their genes to their offspring
