What is the basic geography of Egypt? (How does the Nile flow? What major geographic features are in Egypt?) The Nile flows south to north, starting in Upper Egypt flowing north to Lower Egypt's delta. The major geographic features of Egypt are the cataracts, Saharan desert, and Nile River. Rough mountains are also helpful.
Why did ancient (and modern) Egyptians rely on the Nile River? They relied on the Nile River for a source of fresh water, transportation, and for their farmland to be flooded so it can be fertile.
Which Egyptian dynasty began the old kingdom? The 3rd Egyptian dynasty began the "old kingdom".
What was the most common job in ancient Egypt? The most common job in ancient Egypt was farming.
Know the leaders that began each kingdom of Egypt. King Djoser began the old kingdom. Mentuhotep ll created the middle kingdom. And Amos of Thebes created the new kingdom.
Know the names of each kingdom in Egypt. The kingdoms of Ancient Egypt were called the "Old Kingdom", "Middle Kingdom", and the "New Kingdom".
Know what caused the first 2 Egyptian kingdoms to collapse. The old kingdom ended due to the Pharaoh losing power since their building projects became too expensive. At the same time Nobles were also gaining more power. The middle kingdom collapsed because the Egyptians weren't prepared to fight the armies.
