| Common noun | Ageneral name for a person place or thing (not capitalized unless at the beginning of a sentence) example teacher city compay month |
| countable nouns | noun that can be counted and have singular and plural forms Example one book/ two books, one stundent/ five students |
| irregular plural nouns | nouns that do not follow standard pluralization rules (dont just add -s or -es example child/ children tooth/teeth mouse/mice person/people |
| uncountable | nouns that cannot be counted (no plural form) example water, furniture, infomation, advice, homework |
| compounds nouns | nouns made up of two or more words ( can be written as one word or seprate words) example swimming pool, basketball, bedroom, notebook. |
| hyphrnated nouns | nouns made up of two or more words joined by hyphens example sister-in-law, check-in, mother-in-law, passer-by |

| Attributive adjectives | used before a noun (ex: main, total, edler) |
| Predicative adjective | used after a noun (ex: ashamed, asleep, alive) |
| comparative adjective | comparing two things, -er (bigger, smaller) |
| superlative adjective | compare more than to things, -est (biggest) |
| Adverb | A word that adds information to verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs, usually ends in -ly (ex: quickly, slowly) |
| Verb | an action word Have 3 forms → Base (to ____), Past (-ed), Past participle |
| Active Verb | describe action or movement (ex: walk, work) |
| Stative Verb | describe state or condition (ex: love, feel) |
| Simple present tense | using the base form of the verb (e.g., I walk, they eat) but adding an "-s" or "-es" for the third-person singular (he/she/it) (e.g., he walks, she eats) |
| Simple past tense | Indicates completed actions (typically verb followed by -d or -ed) |
| active voice | the emphasos is on who or what is doing the action example sarah threw the ball (sarah is doing the throwing) examplethe student completed the homework |
