Uniformitarianism A geological principle proposed from previous processes, being used to explain and analyze ongoing processes.
Trace fossil A fossilized structure, such as a footprint or a coprolite, that starts formation in sedimentary rock. This is caused by animal activity on / within soft sediment.

Crosscutting Any geologic feature, such as a fault or an intrusion, that cuts or disrupts older rock layers. This is targeted toward rock layers younger than the layers above it. (Such as the older ones.)
Protons Positively-charged particles located in the nucleus of every atom.
Neutrons Neutral particles located in the nucleus of atoms.
Absolute dating The process of establishing the age of an object, which is determined by how many years its existed. (Exact age.)
Atom The smallest unit of an element; maintaining its properties.
Isotope Atoms of the same element that have the same number of protons. However, they have a different number of neutrons. (Compared to protons.)
Nucleus The middle of an atom, consisting of protons, neutrons, and electrons.
Unstable atom Different number of protons and neutrons. (Referred to as "the parent".)
Radioactive = ??? Unstable nucleus that wants to become stable.
Radioactivity (Radioactive decay) The process where radioactive isotopes tend to break down into stable isotopes.
Half lives The time taken for the radioactivity of a specified isotope to fall to half its original life. (Half the length of a normal life, that is for an object; for e.x:. banana.)
