Module 1 Geosphere

| Systems | a group of interacting parts that work together as one |
| hydrosphere | all of the water on planet Earth including lakes, rivers, and oceans |
| atmosphere | all of the water on planet Earth including lakes, rivers, and oceans |
| geosphere | the solid part of the Earth including rocks and dirt |
| biosphere | all living things on Earth including plants, animals, and humans |
| weathering | when rocks of the geosphere are broken down or changed |
| erosion | carrying of rocks and soil from one place to another |
| core | the innermost part of Earth |
| crust | the thin, outer layer of Earth where we live |
| mantle | the middle layer of Earth, contains magma |
| lithosphere | the hard outer portion of Earth that is broken into plates |
| asthenosphere | he soft, hot layer of the mantle that the plates move on |
| oceanic crust | the crust under the oceans that is thin and heavy |
| continental crust | the crust under that land that is thick |
