Accuracy Percentage of all cases diagnosed correctly
Sensitivity (True Positive Fraction) Likelihood of detecting disease when disease is present.
Specificity (true Negative Fraction) Likelihood of a negative diagnosis when no disease is present
Positive Predictive Value (PPV) Probability the patient has disease given a positive test
Negative Predictive Value (NPV) Probability the patient does not have disease given a negative test
ROC Curve Plots sensitivity vs false-positive rate (1- specificity) Larger area under the curve indicates better diagnostic performance
CR scanner malfunction Malfunction of laser scanner in image reader unit Can also be caused by memory problems, digitization problems, or communication errors
Aliasing Occurs if the grid frequency and scan frequency of the CR reader unit are similar and orientated in the same direction
DEAD pixels Can be caused by nonfunctioning detector elements in DR systems Rough handling of wireless DR cassettes can damage detector elements Can also appear in CR images from dirt on image plate
