"What is Earth Science?, A body of knowledge about Earth and its place in the universe.
"What is a system in Earth Science? , A group of parts that work together as a whole.
"What moves constantly between Earth's systems?" Matter and energy.
"Define energy." The ability to do work or cause change.
"What are constructive forces?" Forces that shape Earth's surface by building mountains and landmasses.
"What are destructive forces?" Forces that slowly wear away mountains and other surface features.
"Name a branch of Earth Science that studies forces shaping Earth." Geology.
"What does oceanography study?" Everything from the chemistry of ocean water to the ocean floor and marine organisms.
"What does meteorology study?" Conditions in the atmosphere.
"What does astronomy focus on?" The solar system
"What is environmental science?" The study of Earth's environment and resources.
"What is scientific inquiry?" A process using a set of skills to answer questions or test ideas about the natural world.
"Define scientific law." A rule that describes a pattern in nature.
"Define scientific theory." An explanation based on knowledge gained from many observations and investigations.
"What is a hypothesis?" A possible explanation for an observation that can be tested by scientific investigation.
"What is a prediction?" A statement of what will happen next in a sequence of events.
"What is the International System of Units (SI)?" The internationally accepted system for measurement.
"What SI unit measures length?" Meter (m).
"What SI unit measures mass?" Kilogram (kg).
"What SI unit measures time?" Second (s).
"Name a tool Earth scientists use to view faraway objects." Binoculars.
"What does a compass show?" Magnetic north.
"What does a wind vane measure?" Wind direction.
"What does an anemometer measure?" Wind speed and force.
"What is a streak plate used for?" Helps identify minerals.
