When the Earth shake

seismogram The record made by a seismograph , the paper on which data about earthquake waves is record
seismograph An instrument used to detect earthquake waves
tension A pulling force along the length of a medium, like a rope or chain, exerted by forces at opposite ends.
compression The process of squeezing or pushing a material inward from opposite sides, reducing its dimensions.
shearing The process of squeezing or pushing a material inward from opposite sides, reducing its dimensions.
