American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) The professional organization that advocates for the pharmacy profession, create and publish professional policies and practice standards.
Community Pharmacy A pharmacy which provides medications/services to patients for use in their homes. Also called ‘RETAIL’ or ‘Ambulatory’ pharmacy.
Formulary A list of approved drugs to be stocked by the pharmacy
Institutional Pharmacy A pharmacy, located inside a hospital, which provides medications/services for patients that are admitted into the institution as in-patients.
Pharmacist A licensed professional who dispenses prescriptions and provides professional judgement regarding preparing and distributing drugs.
Pharmacy Technician An individual who is registered with the board as a pharmacy technician and whose responsibility in a pharmacy is to provide technical assistance.
Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) The entity that regulates the practice of pharmacy in Texas. TSBP creates and enforces pharmacy rules & regulations for Texas pharmacies.
