| irrational number | A number that cannot be expressed as the ratio a over b, where a and b are integers and b = 0. |
| natural numbers | The set of numbers used for counting. |
| perfect cubes | A numbers whose cube root is an integer. 27 is a perfect cubes because its cube root is 3. |
| perfect square | A number whose square root is a whole number. 25 is a perfect square because its square root is 5. |

| radical sign | The symbol used to indicate a positive square root. |
