TermDefinition
First Reading during the Liturgy of the Word, this reading is taken from the Old Testament or the Book of Revelation
Second Reading during the Liturgy of the Word, this reading is taken from the Epistles or the Acts of the Apostles
Liturgy of the Word this includes the writing of the prophets (from the Old Testament) and the memoirs of the apostles (from the New Testament)
Liturgy of the Eucharist this includes the Presentation of the Gifts, Prayer Over the Gifts, the Eucharistic Prayer, and the Communion Rite
Gospel a record of Jesus’ life written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John
Anointing of the Sick sacrament in which the priest gives health and strength to the soul and sometimes the body when there is a danger of death
Matrimony sacrament that unites a Christian man and a Christian woman in marriage
Holy Orders sacrament administered by a bishop through which men receive the power and grace to perform their sacred duties as ordained ministers
Contrition sorrow or being sorry for our sins
Prodigal Son a parable that shows forgiveness and reconciliation
Ascension Jesus went to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father
