TermDefinition
Absolute Error the non-negative difference between a measured or approximate value and the true, exact value of a quantity, calculated as |Approximate Value - True Value|
Percent Error a measure of the difference between an estimated value and an actual value, expressed as a percentage of the actual value, calculated using the formula: |Actual Value - Estimated Value| / Actual Value × 100%,
Proportion an equation stating that two ratios are equal, showing that two quantities have the same relative size or share
Absolute Value a number's distance from zero on the number line, always resulting in a non-negative (positive or zero) value, regardless of the number's original sign, denoted by vertical bars
Constant of Proportionality the fixed number that describes the relationship between two directly proportional variables, meaning one variable changes at a constant rate relative to the other, expressed as y=kx
Cross Section the 2D shape or surface that appears when a 3D object is sliced by a flat plane
Equation a statement declaring that two mathematical expressions are equal, connected by an equals sign
Percent represents a ratio or number as a fraction of 100, meaning "parts per hundred," used to show a part-to-whole relationship
Profit the financial gain from a transaction, calculated as the Selling Price (SP) minus the Cost Price (CP)
Proportional Relationship two quantities change at the same constant rate, so their ratio stays the same
Rate a special ratio that compares two quantities with different units
Ratio a comparison of two or more quantities showing their relative sizes
Scale Drawing a proportional, two-dimensional representation of an object, showing it larger (enlargement) or smaller (reduction) than its actual size, but keeping the same shape and proportions through a constant scale factor or scale ratio
Unit Rate a ratio that compares two different quantities
