Dissect To divide into two equal parts.
Body Cavity Group of organs functioning together withing one or more body systems located in one similar area of the body.
Buccal Of , relating to, involving, or lying in the mouth.
Cephalic of or relating to the head.
External relating to an outer part.
Gastric Relating to the stomach.
Horizontal Plane Imaginary cross-section that divides the body into upper and lower portions.
Internal Relating to the inside of the body.
Mediastinum The space in the chest between the pleural sacs of the lungs,
Oral Relating to the mouth,
Parallel Extending in the same direction and not meeting,
Perpendicular At right angles to a given plane.
Plane Imaginary anatomical dividing lines useful for separating body structures.
Quadrant One of four parts created by a medial sagittal plane and transverse plane passing through the umbilicus at right angles.
Region One of nine areas of the abdomen created by four imaginary planes; used to locate organs more easily.
Section A cut made through the body in the direction of a certain plane.
Umbilicus Navel; depression in abdomen that marks the former point of attachment of the umbilical cord.
Vertical Plane Imaginary line indicating a perpendicular direction to the ground.
