Observatories Buildings for observing the sky
Chinampa An artificial island
Dike A wall to hold back water
Terraces Strips of level land that are planted with crops
Quipu A record-keeping device made of knotted strings
Hierarchy A system where ranking members of a group according to their importance
Ayllu A group of related families that pooled resources to meet peoples needs
Mita System A system where people paid taxes with labor, because there was no money
Artifact An object created and used by humans (tools, pottery,jewelry, ect.)
Potlatch A ceremony in which a wealthy and high-ranking family had a feast and gave gifts to their guest
