Kung Den person som styrde ett land under medeltiden.
Drottning Kvinnlig kung eller kungens hustru.
Rike Ett område eller land som styrs av en kung eller drottning.
Storman En rik och mäktig person som ägde mycket jord och hade stor makt.
Adel Grupp av stormän och deras familjer som hade mycket makt i samhället.
Frälse En grupp i samhället som slapp betala skatt.
Fattiga bönder Människor som arbetade med jordbruk och hade lite makt.
Skatt Det som människor var tvungna att betala till kungen, ofta i form av mat eller arbete.
Fogde En person som arbetade åt kungen och samlade in skatt.
Jarl Den mäktigaste mannen efter kungen i riket.
Län Ett område som styrdes för kungens räkning.
Privilegier Särskilda rättigheter som bara vissa människor hade.
Ätt En släkt med makt, till exempel en kungasläkt.
Sverkerska ätten En kungasläkt som styrde Sverige under delar av 1100- och 1200-talen.
Erikska ätten En annan kungasläkt som kämpade om makten i Sverige.
Folkungätten En mäktig släkt som styrde Sverige på 1200- och 1300-talet.
Birger jarl En jarl som hjälpte till att skapa ordning och lagar i Sverige.
Magnus Ladulås En kung som införde lagar som skyddade bönderna.
Lag Regler som bestämmer vad som är tillåtet och förbjudet i ett samhälle.
Kristendom Den religion som spreds i Norden under medeltiden.
Kyrka En organisation som spred kristendomen och hade stor makt.
Borg En stark byggnad där kungen eller stormän bodde och skyddade sig.
Maktkamp En strid om vem som ska styra ett land.
Uppror När människor gör motstånd mot de som styr.
Riksdag (tidig form) Ett möte där viktiga personer samlades för att fatta beslut.
Stockholm En stad som grundades under medeltiden och blev Sveriges huvudstad.
Kalmarunionen Ett samarbete där Danmark, Norge och Sverige styrdes av samma kung.
