Lymphatic System

TermDefinition
spleen an organ of the lymphatic system that recycles worn out blood cells and produces and stores lymphocytes.
lymphocytes white blood cells that destroy pathogens
bone marrow the spongy center of bones where red and white blood cells form
platelet a small, irregular piece of a cell that plugs wounds to stop bleeding
plasma the yellowish liquid part of blood that transports blood cells
lymphatic system part of the immune system that helps destroy microorganisms that enter the body
lymph tissue fluids that have has diffused into lymph vessels
lymph node a small spongy structure that filters particles from lymph
thymos the organism of the lymphatic system to which T cells complete their development
rh factor a protein found on red blood cells, a chemical marker
