| communitive properties | The commutative property of algebra states that values, numbers, or variables (x + 7) + 9 = x + (7 + 9) 4(3 x 9) = (4 x 3)9 |
| associative propertie | the sum or the product of three or more numbers does not change if they are grouped in a different way (x + 7) + 9 = 9 + (7 + x) 5 x 6 = 6 x 5 |
| identity property of multiplication. | a number equals itself when multiplied by 1 x + 0 = x 6(1) = 6 |
| identivive properties of multiplecation | number equals itself when multiplied by 1 |
| additive inverse propertie | the additive inverse of the positive number 5 is -5. 4 x ¼ = 1 |
| multiplicative inverse propertie | if we multiply a number with its reciprocal, the product is always equal to 1. -5 + 5 = 0 |
| factor | a number that divides the given number evenly or exactly, leaving no remainder |
