| Term | Definition |

| Commutative property | a math rule that says that the order in which we multiply numbers does not change the product |
| Associative property | when more than two numbers are added or multiplied, the result remains the same, irrespective of how they are grouped |
| Identity property of multiplication | the product of any factor and 1 is the same as the factor |
| identity property of addition | the sum of an addend and 0 is the same as the addend |
| Additive inverse property | adding a number and its oppisite produce a sum of zero |
| Multiplicative inverse property | mutiplaying any number and its inverse recprical |
| Associative Property | (x + 7) + 9 = x + (7 + 9) |
| Associative Property | 4(3 x 9) = (4 x 3)9 |
| Commutative Property | (x + 7) + 9 = 9 + (7 + x) |
| Commutative Property | 5 x 6 = 6 x 5 |
| Identity Property of Addition | x + 0 = x |
| Identity Property of Multiplication | 6(1) = 6 |
