QuestionAnswer
What are contemporary art materials? Any traditional or modern materials used to create artworks today.
What are traditional art materials? Paint, canvas, wood, clay, charcoal, and other long-established materials.
What are nontraditional materials? Found objects, recycled materials, industrial items, and everyday objects.
What is mixed media? An artwork that uses two or more materials or techniques.
What are found objects? Ordinary items repurposed as art materials.
What is digital media? Art created using computers, tablets, or digital tools.
What is installation material? Objects used to transform a space, such as fabric, lights, wood, or metal.
What is performance art material? The artist’s body, movement, voice, and props.
What is indigenous material? Locally sourced natural materials used by cultural communities.
Give an example of indigenous material from Luzon. Bamboo and rattan used in weaving and sculpture.
Give an example of indigenous material from Visayas. Abaca fibers used in textiles and crafts.
Give an example of indigenous material from Mindanao. T'nalak cloth made from abaca by the T'boli.
What is industrial material? Manufactured items like steel, plastic, cement, or glass.
What is recycled material? Used items transformed into new artworks.
Why do artists use unconventional materials? To challenge norms, express new ideas, and reflect modern life.
What is assemblage? A 3D artwork made by combining various objects and materials.
What is the importance of material choice? It affects meaning, texture, durability, and viewer experience.
How do materials reflect regional identity? Artists use local resources that represent their culture and environment.
