Erosion the carrying process of wind, water or ice moving small pieces of rock, soil, and sand from one to another
Glacier a large body of ice moving slowly, down a slope or valley
Delta a triangle of sand and soil deposited at the mouth of a river where it meets the ocean
Canyon a deep valley with steep sides carved out by a river
V- shaped valley a long area of low land between mountains and hills caused by the river
renewable resource a resource that can be used repeatedly and does not run out because it is naturally replaced ( wind, water, solar, geothermal and biomass energy
Non- renewable resource a natural resource that cannot be replaced in a hum life time ( natural gas, coal etc
U-shaped valley a valley formed when a glacier moves though
Weathering is the breaking down of landforms by natural forces
Sand dune a hill of sand formed by wind often located near an ocean or desert
Compaction the process through which layers of sediment are squeezed together by the weight of sediment above, REMOVING WATER AND AIR from space between particles of sediment
Moriane a ridge-like mound formed by glacial debris left behind by a glacier
Peat formed by the decomposition of plants and is the first step in the formation of coal
Marine organisms Plant and animal life found in the ocean
Rapid Changes quick changes to Earth's surface. Example: landslide, Earthquake
Natural resources materials or substances such as minerals, forests, animals, water, and fertile land that occurs in nature
Cementation the process through which loose sediment to stuck together and hardened by minerals
Decay the process of rotting ( Alphas always is named this on food chains)
Deposition the dropping of sediment in a new location
Fossil fuels a source of energy made from the remains of ancient, once living things
sediment weathered particles of soil or rock
sedimentary rock a rock that forms when sediment is pressed together in layers
striation scratches of grooves on a rock surface
coal a hard black or brown substance that is found in Earth and is burned as a non- renewable fuel
Oil ( petroleum) a liquid found beneath Earth's surface and is burned as a non-renewable fuel
Natural Gas a mixture of gasses formed by intense heat trapped within Earth's surface and is burned as a non-renewable fuel
Alternative Energy energy generated in ways that do not deplete natural resources or harm the environment especially by avoiding the use of fossil fuels and nuclear power
