| Chronological Order | Presents events or ideas in the order they happened or are meant to be done. |
| Sequence | Explains steps in a process or a series of events, often similar to chronological order but may not be historical. |
| Cause / Effect | A cause is the reason something happens, while an effect is the result of that cause |
| Problem / Solution | A text organization pattern that presents a problem and then proposes one or more solutions |
| Compare / Contrast | A text organization pattern that presents a problem and then proposes one or more solutions |
