Text Structures

QuestionAnswer
Classification An organizational pattern that organizes objects, ideas or information into groups based on common characteristics.
Definition/ Description An organizational pattern that explains a topic by identifying its key characteristics.
Chronological Order Presents events or ideas in the order they happened or are meant to be done.
Sequence Explains steps in a process or a series of events, often similar to chronological order but may not be historical.
Cause / Effect A cause is the reason something happens, while an effect is the result of that cause
Problem / Solution A text organization pattern that presents a problem and then proposes one or more solutions
Compare / Contrast A text organization pattern that presents a problem and then proposes one or more solutions
